The Union

“Love is an emotion, too. But it is more than an emotion, a fleeting feeling which a man experiences when he meets a woman of beauty. That’s how I felt for you the first time I met you. It’s a strange feeling. The full admiration is there. And I still feel that way. Even now… I’m excited to see you everyday. I feel strangely sad if I don’t see you even for a day. But love is more than what I feel for you. It is a decision I have made from the first day I started loving you,” Dr. Ratanopol explained.
Thinzar looked straight into his eyes.

“Will the day come when you will also decide to stop loving me?” Thinzar asked him.

Dr. Ratanopol was speechless for a moment.

The Divide

"Revenge will destroy both the subject and the perpetrator. Absolutely nothing good can come out of it,” Dr. Chatchai Ratanopol said when he talked to a group of Thai teens in Sangkhlaburi which had fought a series of rumbles against a group of teenagers from the Mon village.

The leader of the Thai group was Atichai Ayanud. He was the younger brother of Dr. Ratanopol’s high school friend Galaxy Ayanud.

The Thais would not help in the rebuilding project until the fighting stopped, and the Thais and Mon groups were at peace with each other.

The Bridge

The Saphan Mon wooden bridge spans the Song Kalia River which cuts through the town proper of Sangkhlaburi and the Burmese Mon Village called Ban Wangka.

On one side of the bridge lies the village of Mon which has been the sanctuary of members of the Mon tribe who fled from war and persecution in Burma. In that village lives Thinzar Wint Kyaw, a twenty-one year old girl whose parents fled Burma when she was only nine years of age.

On the other side of the bridge, Chatchai Ratanopol, a young doctor, returns to his hometown in search of his place in this world.

Their paths are about to meet.
